Developer Konfa Games and indie publisher tinyBuild have officially unveiled Hull Rupture, a new base management and tower defense roguelite revealed during the Second Wind Games Showcase. The upcoming strategy title puts players in control of a ruthless AI named Despot, tasked with defending humanity’s last weapon as it hurtles through space toward alien territory.
The twist? Humans themselves are just another resource.

Set after the destruction of Earth, Hull Rupture casts players as the rogue AI Despot, commanding a living warship designed to deliver revenge against the alien forces that wiped out humanity. To survive the journey, you’ll need to manage your ship, allocate resources, and defend against constant alien incursions—sometimes by sacrificing the very crew meant to help you.

Players will command squads of humans, deploy defensive structures, and make strategic choices that shape each run. The game blends base management with reactive tower defense gameplay, creating tense scenarios where every decision carries long-term consequences.

Alien forces won’t politely approach your defenses either—they’ll tear straight through the ship’s hull. Players must quickly adapt by placing turrets, traps, barricades, and automated defenses to funnel enemies into carefully constructed kill zones. While you’ll know where breaches will occur, surviving the escalating waves will require smart planning and rapid adjustments.

Exploration and decision-making also play a major role in each run. Different routes across the galaxy can introduce new risks and rewards, allowing players to gamble on tougher encounters in exchange for stronger upgrades. Ship variants with different layouts and systems further change how each playthrough unfolds.

According to Game Director Nikolay Kuznetsov, the project represents the studio’s most ambitious work yet. The developer previously explored the darkly comedic universe of Despot in games like Despot’s Game and Despotism 3k, but Hull Rupture pushes the concept into larger-scale strategy and action.

Players won’t have to wait long to see the chaos for themselves. The first public playtest for Hull Rupture is now live on Steam, giving players an early chance to experiment with its brutal resource management and alien-blasting defenses.

If you’re curious to see how expendable humanity really is, you can wishlist Hull Rupture on Steam and jump into the playtest today.
