Get ready to play with your food—in the best way possible. Indie studio Mimmox has just announced its debut title, and it’s looking like a real treat. UMAMI is a cozy, food-themed 3D puzzle game that’s all about tinkering, relaxing, and serving up bite-sized moments of joy. It’s set to launch on PC later in 2025, with a playable demo arriving during Steam Next Fest this June.
If you’re a fan of low-stress puzzle games like Unpacking or A Little to the Left, UMAMI should be on your radar. Players will explore 15 handcrafted dioramas—each resembling a delightful dish or sweet scene—by arranging wooden puzzle pieces on a 3D board. Think fluffy pancakes drenched in syrup, colorful candy displays, and artfully stacked onigiri. Each level is a visual feast, hand-painted with meticulous care by a five-person art team.
But this isn’t just about making food look good. You’ll be “restoring” dishes for a cast of charming chefs—like the ever-cheerful Chef Bumblebake, sushi master Chef Sushiba, and the adorable duo Chefs Honey and Cuddle.
Best of all? UMAMI is built around chill vibes. There are no timers, no fail states, and no wrong moves—just satisfying, tactile puzzles that encourage experimentation and discovery. And if you’re the kind of player who loves finding cute little secrets, there’s more to uncover: collectible cards, hidden critters to pet, and plenty of cozy surprises tucked into each scene.
UMAMI Key Features:
-
Deliciously Handcrafted: All 15 food-themed dioramas are beautifully hand-painted by a team of artists specializing in textures, environments, and whimsical illustrations.
-
Comfort Food for the Brain: Designed to be cozy and pressure-free, UMAMI is all about slowing down and savoring the experience.
-
A Feast of Variety: From pancake stacks to sushi platters to decadent desserts, the game features a wide range of dishes to puzzle through.
UMAMI will launch on PC via Steam later this year and will support 27 languages, including English, Japanese, Korean, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
If you’re hungry for something cozy and creative, keep an eye on this one—and don’t miss the demo during Steam Next Fest in June!
