After a year of bloody battles, community feedback, and roguelite chaos, Dragon is Dead is officially emerging from Early Access. PM Studios and developer TeamSuneat have announced that the fast-paced, hack-and-slash action roguelite will hit version 1.0 on June 6, 2025, launching in full on Steam for PC.
From the start, Dragon is Dead has been a game shaped by its players. Over the course of Early Access, fans have helped tweak balance, refine combat, and inspire new content — and now, those efforts are culminating in the most ambitious version of the game yet.
The 1.0 update isn’t just polishing up the rough edges — it’s a full-on content drop. Players can look forward to a brand-new final region and boss fight, a savage new heroine called the Hunter of the Beast, customizable difficulty settings, and a revamped Tempering system that lets you craft high-risk, high-reward builds.
This is a raw, unfiltered & gritty project built with heart by a small but fiercely talented team,
said Michael Yum, CEO of PM Studios. “From the precision of the combat to the scale of the systems, it’s a bold, creative return to form for us. We’re incredibly proud to share it with players.”
Here’s What’s New in Version 1.0:
- Final Region & Boss
The story reaches its climax as the Guernian clan collides with the Circle of the Dawn, setting up a final showdown that uncovers the truth behind the dragon’s fall. - New Enemies: The Circle of the Black Dawn
These fanatical cultists have claimed Guernian’s heart and are now led by the ruthless Ashat. Expect brutal new enemy types and fresh challenges. - Legendary & Mythic Gear
The loot game just got hotter. Discover powerful new Legendary weapons and dive into the all-new Mythic tier for gear with game-changing effects. - Item Quenching System
This new system adds another layer of depth to your builds, letting you upgrade and modify your equipment in new ways. - New Playable Hero: Hunter of the Beast
This feral new warrior brings a savage edge to the roster, complete with a fresh combat style and unique skills. - Nightmare Mode x16
Beat the main campaign? Good. Now try surviving 16 levels of Nightmare Mode, where enemy patterns, mechanics, and difficulty get a serious overhaul.
Roguelite Chaos Meets Pixel-Perfect Combat
Dragon is Dead mixes 2D hack-and-slash gameplay with deep RPG progression. You’ll battle through procedurally generated dungeons, unlock massive skill trees, and experiment with hundreds of weapons, artifacts, and passive combos. With every run, you’ll get stronger — or die trying.
If you’re into games that reward gritty perseverance, sick gear synergies, and brutal boss fights, Dragon is Dead might be your next obsession.
