An ancient predator is waking beneath the waters of the Amazon, and a humanitarian mission is about to become a fight for survival. Originally announced under the title Titan, Lionsgate’s upcoming creature feature is now officially titled Beware Boiúna and is scheduled to hit theaters on October 2, 2026.
Directed by Mike P. Nelson, whose previous horror credits include Wrong Turn and V/H/S/85, Beware Boiúna takes audiences deep into Brazil’s Curuçá River region. The film follows a team of young doctors who travel into the Amazon rainforest as part of a humanitarian mission, only to discover that they have entered the territory of something far more dangerous than they anticipated.
At the center of the nightmare is the Boiúna, a massive and ancient predator capable of moving through both land and water. The creature is determined to reclaim its territory, turning what
should have been a mission to help others into a desperate battle to stay alive. As the survivors attempt to escape, the traditional boundaries between hunter and prey begin to disappear.
The film stars Jessica Rothe, known for the Happy Death Day movies, alongside Kiana Madeira of the Fear Street trilogy. Logan Marshall-Green, who appeared in Upgrade and The Invitation, is also part of the cast.
Behind the camera, Nelson is working with a script credited to Tony Giglio and Alan B. McElroy. The project is produced by Robert Kulzer and Jeremy Bolt, with Constantin Film and JB Pictures involved in the production.
The film’s premise puts it firmly in survival horror territory, with the Amazon itself becoming as important to the story as the creature lurking within it. Dense jungle, unpredictable waterways, and an enormous predator create an environment where simply finding a way out may be nearly impossible.
The movie has also received an R rating for bloody violence, grisly images, and language, giving a clear indication that Beware Boiúna isn’t planning to hold back on the brutality.
With its combination of creature-feature thrills, Amazonian folklore, and survival horror, Beware Boiúna could be an intriguing addition to the growing lineup of genre movies heading to theaters in 2026. The film is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on October 2.
