Codebrew Software has announced that Sublight, a space bullet-heaven roguelike combining arcade survival with deeper space-sim mechanics, will enter Early Access on September 15.
Players take command of a powerful warship and must carefully position turrets, manage firing arcs, and fight through escalating waves of enemies. Each run offers opportunities to expand the ship’s arsenal and create increasingly powerful builds capable of tearing through entire sectors.
The game’s demo has already attracted plenty of attention, with players recording more than 14.3 million enemy kills since its last major update. GamingOnLinux also praised the demo, describing it as “pretty glorious” while highlighting the combination of space combat and bullet-heaven gameplay.

At launch, Sublight‘s Early Access version will feature six levels, multiple bosses, two enemy factions, nine playable ships, more than 16 weapon types, and a range of upgrades for customizing each run. Weekly rotating level modifiers will also be introduced, adding new challenges and helping keep repeated runs fresh.

The core gameplay revolves around surviving increasingly dangerous sectors while gathering materials and leveling up your ship. Players will face everything from hostile rebel fleets to ravenous alien swarms, requiring them to continually adapt their loadouts and strategies.

A wide arsenal of weapons will be available, including turrets, autocannons, railguns, and other systems that can be combined with passive upgrades to create specialized builds. Experimenting with different combinations will be key to finding the right setup for each encounter.

Players can also unlock a variety of unique ships, each featuring alternative loadouts, integrated weapon systems, and abilities that can fundamentally change how they approach combat. Whether focusing on overwhelming firepower, specialized weapons, or a more carefully balanced build, every ship offers a different way to dominate the battlefield.

Codebrew Software will reveal a full post-launch roadmap in the coming weeks, giving players a clearer look at what to expect from Sublight after its Early Access launch.
Sublight enters Early Access on PC via Steam on September 15.
