Something has been watching humanity from the depths of space, and in Cosmic Fear, players are going to discover just how long it has been there. Solo developer Alessandro Guzzo has announced that his upcoming first-person cosmic horror adventure will launch on September 9, 2026, for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

What begins as an investigation into an otherworldly presence gradually develops into a much larger mystery tied to the origins of humanity itself.

Players take on the role of someone who has uncovered forbidden knowledge and discovered evidence that something from the depths of the cosmos may be calling once again. Exploring hostile environments, solving puzzles, and piecing together clues will be essential to understanding what is happening, but surviving the forces encountered along the way won’t be easy.

Encounters with enemies are designed to remain unpredictable, with sophisticated AI keeping players under constant pressure. Knowing when to confront a threat and when to find another way forward could mean the difference between uncovering the truth and becoming another victim of the phenomenon.

Investigation is equally important. Players will need to search their surroundings for clues, solve environmental puzzles, and gradually connect the pieces of a mystery that reaches back far beyond the events of the game.

Guzzo is no stranger to Lovecraftian horror. The developer previously created The Alien Cube and The Land of Pain, continuing a fascination with cosmic horror and stories built around mysterious forces beyond human understanding. Cosmic Fear is a standalone adventure that expands on that approach with another unsettling world filled with extraterrestrial mysteries and otherworldly threats.

The game’s visual presentation is powered by Unreal Engine 5 and makes extensive use of photogrammetry to create detailed environments. Dynamic lighting, shadows, and volumetric fog are used to give locations a dark and oppressive atmosphere, while a carefully designed soundscape makes even seemingly harmless noises potentially unsettling.

The demo is already available on Steam and has received a 92% positive rating from players, while the game has accumulated more than 35,000 wishlists ahead of launch.

Cosmic Fear launches September 9, 2026, on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Players can try the demo and wishlist the game ahead of release.
