DreadXP, the publisher known for its growing collection of fan-favorite horror titles, has just signed a new survival horror game that’s sure to intrigue and disturb. Introducing The Lacerator, a twisted survival horror experience where losing limbs isn’t just gruesome—it changes the way you play. Developed by Brazilian studio Games From The Abyss, this game channels the gritty, trashy comedy and low-brow style of the Grindhouse films from the ‘70s and ‘80s. Set to launch in 2025, The Lacerator is shaping up to be a unique addition to the genre.

The Lacerator blends tense survival horror with the gritty vibe of an ‘80s grindhouse thriller, complete with retro-inspired low-poly visuals and classic tank controls. As you explore a branching environment filled with enemies and puzzles, the game’s unique twist comes into play: the threat of losing limbs in real-time. Each lost limb limits your gameplay options, forcing you to adapt your strategy. Exploration is key to survival, but you’ll also need to fight off enemies and avoid the traps set by The Lacerator.

The game’s protagonist, Max, is a famous porn actor whose latest shoot takes a terrifying turn when he and his crew are attacked and abducted by The Lacerator. Trapped in a grimy hideout, Max must do whatever it takes to escape alive—but with a sadistic killer obsessed with lacerating his victims, that’s easier said than done. The game features multiple escape routes, each leading to different narrative branches. Depending on which limbs you have left, certain paths may be inaccessible, encouraging players to replay the game to uncover the full story.

Key Features:

  • Avoid Getting Lacerated: Losing limbs alters gameplay and forces you to adapt.
  • Explore The Lacerator’s Lair: Navigate a maze-like environment filled with deadly traps.
  • Solve Puzzles and Progress: Scavenge items to help you survive and escape.
  • Fight or Flee: Defend yourself or run from your foes—each choice has consequences.
  • Multiple Endings: Discover different outcomes based on the paths you take and the limbs you lose.

DreadXP’s lineup continues to grow, with The Lacerator joining the ranks alongside other highly anticipated titles like Amanda The Adventurer 2, coming later in 2024, and Heartworm in 2025, a narrative-driven horror experience reminiscent of genre classics.
