Ready to take a victory lap through racing history? Formula Legends, the sim-cade love letter to open-wheeled motorsport, just dropped its first public demo as part of Steam Next Fest (June 9–16). Developed by indie studio 3DClouds, the demo gives players an early look at this unique racer that blends decades of racing heritage with a modern, accessible gameplay twist.

A Time Machine on Four Wheels

Premiered during The Future Games Show Summer Showcase, the new gameplay trailer revs up the nostalgia with a showcase of new cars and tracks from across 70 years of Formula-style racing. From the no-frills machines of the ’70s to the downforce-heavy beasts of today, Formula Legends offers a curated mix of eras with cars that don’t just look the part—they drive like it, too.

The demo includes the fictional Ardennes GP circuit in three flavors—Vintage, Classic, and Modern—each reflecting a different period in motorsport evolution. You’ll get to try out cars inspired by the mid-’70s, early ’90s, and modern-day racers, complete with unique handling models and racing personalities. And yes, you can compete in Time Trials (with global leaderboards), qualifying sessions, and full races up to 10 laps.

Sim Meets Arcade, Nostalgia Meets Depth

What makes Formula Legends stand out is its “sim-cade” approach. While it’s accessible for newcomers, there’s plenty of depth under the hood. Real-time weather changes, tire wear, fuel consumption, dynamic track conditions, and driver-specific perks (like wet-weather mastery or pit-stop precision) make every race feel dynamic and unpredictable.

If you’ve ever bounced off modern sim racers for being too intense, Formula Legends might be your perfect entry point. And if you’re a hardcore fan? There’s still a lot to dig into—especially the love and detail poured into every car, circuit, and era.
