Happy Broccoli Games, the indie studio best known for the popular Duck Detective series, has officially revealed its next project during the Day of the Devs showcase. Titled Apple Crumble, the upcoming game is a fully voiced interactive mystery thriller scheduled to launch on Windows, Mac, and Linux in 2026.
While Happy Broccoli Games built a loyal following with the comedic detective adventures of Duck Detective, Apple Crumble takes players in a different direction with a suspense-filled mystery centered around a family gathering gone terribly wrong.

The story unfolds during your grandmother’s 84th birthday celebration. At first glance, it seems like a normal family event, but beneath the surface lies a deadly secret. Someone attending the party intends to kill your Nan, and it’s up to you to uncover the culprit before it’s too late.

Players will explore their childhood home, reconnect with a dysfunctional cast of relatives, and piece together clues while deciding who can be trusted. The game draws inspiration from mystery works such as Knives Out while blending psychological tension with the developer’s signature storytelling style.

Apple Crumble features a fully voice-acted cast that includes:
- Your beloved grandma
- Your stressed-out mum
- Your uncle in the middle of a midlife crisis
- The strange man in your bedroom
- You
Designed as a compact mystery experience, the game is expected to last between 60 and 90 minutes, making it a focused narrative thriller packed with twists and surprises.

With its intriguing premise, quirky cast of characters, and a mystery that promises plenty of unexpected turns, Apple Crumble looks set to offer a memorable new experience from the creators of Duck Detective when it arrives in 2026.
