Focus Entertainment and Asobo Studio have announced that Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy will launch on August 27, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Serving as a prequel to the acclaimed A Plague Tale series, the new adventure introduces players to a younger Sophia as she embarks on a dangerous quest to uncover the secrets of her past.
Revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, the latest trailer offers a closer look at Sophia’s story, which unfolds fifteen years before the events of the original A Plague Tale games. This standalone tale explores a different side of the franchise’s world while blending action, exploration, mythology, and narrative-driven storytelling.
Set between the medieval era and the ancient Minoan civilization, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy takes players to the mysterious Minotaur’s Island, a place that has haunted Sophia’s dreams since childhood. Drawn to its distant shores, she sets out to uncover the truth behind her family’s connection to the island. Along the way, she is joined by her friend Leni as they confront dangerous enemies, deadly trials, and long-buried secrets hidden deep beneath the island’s surface.
As Sophia ventures further into the island’s depths, she will encounter forces tied to ancient myths and legends, including an unexpected ally connected to some of history’s oldest stories. The game promises a mix of combat, exploration, puzzle-solving, and narrative choices as players unravel the mysteries surrounding the island and Sophia’s destiny.
The adventure will also feature an original score composed by acclaimed video game composer Olivier Derivière, with additional details about the soundtrack expected to be revealed in the coming months.
Pre-orders for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy are available now. Players who pre-order the game will receive The Heritage Pack, which includes the Minoan Sword in-game item, Alec’s Pendant in-game item, and a digital artbook featuring more than 30 pages of artwork and development materials.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy launches on August 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The game will also be available on day one through Xbox Game Pass and will support Xbox Play Anywhere.
