Painkiller is back and bloodier than ever. Revealed during today’s Galaxies Showcase, 3D Realms and developer Anshar Studios dropped a brand-new trailer for their brutal reimagining of the cult-classic FPS, giving us a deadly peek at the weapons we’ll be wielding when the game drops this fall on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
This fresh take on Painkiller isn’t just bringing back the chaos—it’s turning it up to 11 with a reworked arsenal packed with satisfying alt-fires, elemental effects, and that signature over-the-top style fans love. From classics like the Stakegun to the titular Painkiller itself, there’s no shortage of ways to paint the battlefield red.
Featured Weapons from the Trailer:
-
Electrodriver – Rapid-fire shurikens that bounce off walls and fry everything in sight.
-
Stakegun – Yep, it’s back. Impale enemies from afar with brutal precision.
-
SMG & Handcannon – Mix it up with high-speed ammo dumps or calculated, long-range kills.
-
Shotgun – Devastating at close range and perfect for staggering mobs of demons.
-
Rocket Launcher – Because sometimes only a huge explosion will do.
-
The Painkiller – This fan-favorite melee weapon hooks enemies, shreds them apart, and rewards you with ammo refills. Beautifully savage.
Set in a twisted purgatory, Painkiller throws you into a war against the demonic forces of Azazel. Condemned for your sins, you’ve been given one shot at redemption—and it involves a lot of blood, fire, and heavy metal. Whether you go it alone or jump into co-op with up to two friends, expect high-octane action, grotesque creatures, and level design that leans into the dark, gothic atmosphere that defined the original.
Key Features:
-
Insane Weapon Variety – Dual fire modes, elemental effects, upgrades, and tarot card buffs? This arsenal means business.
-
Fast-Paced Combat – Jump, hook, and dash your way through bone-covered biomes while unleashing chaos.
-
Choose Your Fighter – Four unique characters—Ink, Void, Sol, and Roch—each with perks that affect how you fight and survive.
