Nozomu Games is preparing to unleash its supernatural deck-building adventure Burn With Me on PC via Steam on October 12. Combining strategic card play with an unsettling narrative centered on obsession, sacrifice, and forbidden rituals, the game introduces a unique twist to the deck-building formula: sometimes, the best card is the one you’re willing to burn.
Set inside an occult university, Burn With Me follows a group of students who become entangled in ancient rituals orchestrated by an enigmatic and increasingly obsessed teacher. As the students confront their deepest desires, fears, and ambitions, players will have to decide how far they are willing to go to gain power without ultimately being consumed by their own obsessions.

The game’s defining mechanic revolves around deliberately burning cards from your deck. Sacrificing cards can unlock powerful abilities and devastating effects, but every card burned is one less resource available later. That creates a constant risk-versus-reward decision, forcing players to weigh the immediate benefits of greater power against the consequences of leaving their deck depleted.

Each of Burn With Me‘s six chapters is designed as its own distinct experience, featuring unique mechanics, cards, bosses, characters, and narrative themes. While the gameplay changes from chapter to chapter, the overarching story remains focused on the dangerous relationship between desire and sacrifice.

The game’s eerie atmosphere is enhanced by hand-drawn artwork created entirely by narrative designer and artist Eva Manuilovich. The illustrated world is contrasted by live-action footage featuring the mysterious Hand, creating a surreal visual style that further emphasizes the game’s occult and otherworldly themes. The overall experience draws inspiration from occult mysteries, jazz, and psychological horror.

Burn With Me began life during Ludum Dare 55, where the original prototype quickly climbed into the competition’s top 1%. Since then, more than 20,000 players have experienced the prototype, while praise from Inscryption creator Daniel Mullins helped encourage Nozomu Games to expand the concept into a full commercial release.

The full version of Burn With Me launches October 12 on PC via Steam. A demo is currently available for players who want to experience its unusual deck-burning mechanics and supernatural story ahead of release.
