Electric Machine Games has announced that The Core will launch in Steam Early Access on August 13, 2026, giving players their first opportunity to explore its atmospheric sci-fi world. Developed by a solo creator, the game marks the studio’s first PC release after the success of Tall Man Run, the mobile hit that has surpassed 250 million downloads worldwide. Following several public playtests and a Steam demo shaped by community feedback, the first chapters of the adventure are nearly ready for players to experience.

As they venture through sprawling industrial complexes, forgotten underground systems, and haunting outdoor environments reclaimed by nature, they’ll gradually piece together the truth behind their creation. Exploration is at the heart of the experience, with platforming, environmental puzzles, combat, and narrative discovery combining to reveal the mysteries hidden throughout the world.

The Early Access launch includes three fully playable story chapters alongside 30 standalone challenge missions known as Cain’s Trials. Completing these challenges rewards players with Tech currency that can be used to progress through the main campaign, while timed challenge modes and Steam leaderboards provide additional replayability for those looking to perfect their skills.

Throughout the journey, players will unlock upgrades that expand movement abilities and enhance an adaptable energy tool capable of manipulating machinery, solving puzzles, overcoming environmental hazards, and defending against hostile threats. Every location contains hidden secrets, collectible recordings, and clues that slowly reveal what happened to humanity and why the AI protagonist exists.

Electric Machine Games plans to continue expanding The Core throughout its Early Access period with additional story chapters, new trials, gameplay improvements, and other features influenced by community feedback.
