The upcoming indie action title Smash ‘N Grab is gearing up for its first public showing. Developer SLAP-BANG! Digital has announced that the game’s debut demo will launch on Steam as part of the Games from Ireland celebration running from March 13 through March 19, 2026.

Inspired by the energy of classic Saturday morning cartoons, Smash ‘N Grab throws players into a chaotic, speedrunning-focused beat ’em up where destruction and quick thinking are the keys to pulling off the perfect heist.

Players take control of an unlikely criminal duo: Smash, a massive robot drummer, and Grab, his clever raccoon partner in crime. Together, the pair blast through retro-futuristic environments while smashing obstacles, fighting off guards, and snatching as much loot as possible before making their escape.

The game’s visual style draws inspiration from bold, stylized animation and graphic design influences such as Saul Bass, Samurai Jack, and Batman: The Animated Series. The result is a vibrant world filled with sharp shapes, dramatic color contrasts, and plenty of explosive action.

According to director Mark Skelton, the game blends the spirit of classic cartoon antics with the competitive thrill of chasing high scores.

The demo introduces players to a highly replayable single level centered around a daring art gallery heist. Players will smash their way through walls and enemies, grab valuables, and navigate platforming sections while racing against the clock. The faster the escape, the higher the score.

Speedrunning plays a big role in the experience. Players can experiment with different routes, uncover hidden shortcuts, and refine their strategies in pursuit of the coveted S rank. In a clever twist, destroying valuable items actually shaves precious seconds off your time while boosting your overall score.

The Smash ‘N Grab demo will be available on Steam starting March 13 as part of the Games from Ireland event, giving players their first chance to dive into the game’s chaotic, score-chasing action.
