Back in 2013, Techland dropped a viral hit celebrating “100 Years of Zombie Evolution,” a clever look at how the undead shuffled, groaned, and evolved through pop culture history. Now, a decade later, they’re back with a follow-up: “110 Years of Zombies in Pop Culture”, arriving just in time to hype the launch of Dying Light: The Beast on September 19, 2025.
This new video once again enlists skilled makeup artists and actors to bring the dead to life—well, un-life—showcasing how zombies have been portrayed across film, television, and video games. From the eerie voodoo-inspired undead of the early 20th century to the flesh-hungry hordes made famous in modern cinema, all the way to today’s more creative and unusual takes, the video is both a tribute and a time capsule of our enduring fascination with zombies.
Techland, of course, has its own stake in zombie pop culture with the Dying Light series, and this retrospective is the perfect way to celebrate the genre while building hype for their next big release.
