At this year’s Game Devs of Color Expo Direct, Nigerian solo developer gazuntype unveiled a brand-new trailer for Go North, the atmospheric maze adventure game that’s heading to PC via Steam in Q1 2026. Alongside the trailer, fans can jump into a brand-new PC demo starting today—and look forward to Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X|S versions later in 2026.

    Always North, Never Back

In Go North, you’ll step into the shoes of Dara, a wanderer on a journey to seek the Maze God and earn a singular wish. The catch? Every maze follows just one rule: the exit is always north. From thicketed forests and labyrinthine corridors to floating sky islands stitched together with ladders and bridges, every environment unfolds into an intricate web of paths where magic and technology collide.

A Breath of West African Creativity

Created by developer Tade Ajiboye, Go North takes inspiration from exploration-driven adventures like Journey and A Short Hike, while carving its own identity through mystique and atmosphere. It’s built to be as welcoming as it is mysterious—encouraging players to explore at their own pace, whether that means carefully uncovering secrets or racing to the exit as a daring speedrunner.

    Discoveries Await

    • Meet curious Maze Makers and fellow challengers along the way

    • Collect and experiment with mystical tools, from hoverboards and street-sign breadcrumbs to bird scouts and magical powders

    • Uncover artifacts of forgotten civilizations mixing technology with the arcane

    • Choose your playstyle: relax and take in every detail, or speed through for glory

“Whether you’re looking for a relaxing experience or you’re a daring speedrunner, Go North has so much to offer,” said Ajiboye. “If you want to take all the time in the world to search every nook and cranny, you will be rewarded with rare items. If you want to find the nearest hoverboard and speed to the exit faster than anyone else, you can do that, too.”

    Coming 2026

Go North launches on PC via Steam in Q1 2026, with Switch and Xbox Series X|S versions to follow later in the year. A free demo is available now on Steam for those ready to start their journey north.
