Gambit Digital Launches in Montreal to Redefine Indie Game Publishing

A new publishing player has entered the scene. Gambit Digital, based in Montreal, Quebec, officially launched today with a mission to give indie developers more flexibility, support, and long-term growth opportunities in an industry that’s more competitive than ever.

The company is part of Indie Asylum, Montreal’s collaborative hub of over 200 developers across 18 studios. Gambit aims to carry that same spirit of creativity and cooperation into publishing, offering both traditional and alternative models to help studios thrive.

    A Different Approach to Publishing

Instead of a one-size-fits-all model, Gambit Digital is positioning itself as a versatile partner:

    • Traditional Publishing & Investment – Project-based funding and support from concept through launch.

    • Shadow Publishing – Letting studios stay the publisher of record while Gambit provides the heavy lifting behind the scenes.

    • Console Porting & Publishing – An in-house porting team ensures polished console releases handled by developers who know the craft.

    • Post-Launch Growth – Helping games find new audiences, sales channels, and revenue opportunities long after launch day.

Built by Developers, Powered by Publishers

What makes Gambit stand out is who’s behind it. The founding team—Zac Antonaci, Chad Young, and Kevin Chancey—includes both studio founders and publishing veterans who have collectively shipped some of the industry’s most successful titles, selling tens of millions of copies worldwide.

“Publishing today has to be more than a transaction—it has to be a long-term partnership,” said Zac Antonaci, CEO of Gambit Digital. “From porting to post-launch growth, our mission is to expand possibilities and give studios the tools and opportunities to thrive.”

Co-founder Chris Chancey added: “We’re builders ourselves. We know what it means to take risks, to scale up, and to find the right partners. Gambit exists to tilt the playing field in favor of developers.”

With roots in one of gaming’s most vibrant indie ecosystems, Gambit Digital is setting out to be a publisher that not only launches games—but helps them grow well beyond release.
