Apogee Entertainment is back at it again, teaming up with Fuzzy Sock Studios to unleash Rising Heat, a roguelike horde-survival bullet hell that wears its influences on its sleeve—Enter the Gungeon, Geometry Wars, and Vampire Survivors fans, this one’s calling your name. Revealed during Gamescom, the game officially launches on PC via Steam on October 14, 2025.
At its core, Rising Heat is a gladiator-style space spectacle where you step into the cockpit against endless waves of alien swarms bankrolled by the Extraterrestrial Elite. Expect fast reflexes, physics-driven flight controls, and a gameplay loop built around momentum, flow, and pure chaos.
Developer Ronnie Lusso described the game as his ultimate passion project:
“This is the game I’ve always wanted to play: easy to learn, challenging to master, endlessly fun, and impossible to put down.”
What Makes Rising Heat Different?
Unlike typical horde survival games, Rising Heat isn’t about standing still and firing away—it’s about movement. Your fighter jet handles with physics-based precision, making each dodge, roll, and “tackle” attack feel skill-based. You can weave between enemies, chain devastating tackles through entire waves, or blast straight through the horde if you’re bold enough.
Loadout customization is another big hook. Every run lets you combine pilots, ships, and “hacks” (upgrades) into endlessly varied builds. Hacks can even be fused together to discover synergies, whether you’re stacking buffs or experimenting with riskier trade-offs.
And if solo play isn’t enough? Jump into co-op mode, where your ship is tethered to your partner’s by a powerful energy beam. Played right, it’ll shred through alien swarms. Played wrong, it’ll drag your wingman straight into a bullet storm.
