Targem Games has announced Demidoff Corp, a new indie 2D metroidvania that blends Souls-like mechanics with the folklore and history of Russia’s Ural region.
The game draws heavily from the Ural folk tales of renowned writer Pavel Bazhov, with its characters and creatures inspired by figures from his short stories. At the center of the narrative is also a real historical figure, industrialist Nikita Demidov, founder of the influential Demidov dynasty.

In Demidoff Corp, players will explore a mystical version of the historical Ural region while uncovering the secrets hidden within Demidov’s Tower. The journey leads through icy mining tunnels, mysterious lakes, dense forests, and sprawling Demidov estates, each hiding mysteries of its own.

As the region’s factories continue to pour smoke into the sky, a strange magical affliction begins spreading across the land. Players take on the role of a fluffy retired royal agent who is sent on an urgent mission to investigate what is happening throughout the Demidov estates and bring the truth back to the Tsar.

But digging into someone else’s secrets can have unexpected consequences, and the further the retired agent ventures into the Ural wilderness, the more deeply they become entangled in the mysteries surrounding Demidov’s world.

Demidoff Corp is currently in development for PC.
