Endflame has revealed Road to Jukai, a first-person psychological horror game previously known as Silent Road. A new Steam playtest is available now, while the full game is planned for release in 2027.

The job sounds simple enough: pick up passengers, drive between small towns, and keep the meter running. But the roads wind through a vast haunted forest, and the people climbing into the back seat after sunset may not be what they seem.

The game’s horror comes from that uneasy routine. Every trip begins with a destination, but the stories passengers tell and the requests they make grow stranger as the nights pass.

    Six Nights on the Road

Road to Jukai tells a non-linear story across six nights in a region marked by tragedy and mystery. Players will drive through quiet towns and forest routes, gradually learning more about the people, the area, and the dead who have apparently never left.

The setting puts a different spin on psychological horror. Instead of exploring abandoned buildings or surviving in a closed-off location, players spend much of their time inside a taxi. The road is always in front of them, but looking away from the rear-view mirror may not be enough to avoid whatever has entered the car.

Each new passenger brings another piece of the story. Some will have unsettling requests, while others may reveal information that changes how players see the region around them.

A New Name and a Playtest

The game was initially announced as Silent Road, but now carries the title Road to Jukai as it moves forward with publisher tinyBuild. The current playtest gives horror fans an early opportunity to experience the game’s atmosphere and offer feedback before launch.

For players who enjoy slower, story-focused horror, the premise has plenty of potential. A late-night taxi ride already has a natural sense of isolation. Add a haunted forest, strange passengers, and six nights of escalating dread, and the shift is likely to feel much longer than it should.

Road to Jukai is coming to PC via Steam in 2027.
