After spending months in Early Access, SWAPMEAT has officially launched its 1.0 release on Steam. Developer One More Game is celebrating the milestone with a substantial content update that introduces new planets, additional mutations, quality-of-life improvements, and the game’s long-awaited final boss encounter.

The fast-paced third-person shooter roguelite first entered Early Access late last year, quickly attracting attention for its unusual body-swapping mechanic. Now, the full release expands the experience significantly while refining many of its core systems.

In SWAPMEAT, players take control of Squishy, a shape-shifting operative working for Rangus Corp. Rather than simply defeating enemies, players can steal and equip their opponents’ body parts, including heads, torsos, and legs. Each body part grants unique abilities and passive bonuses, allowing players to create thousands of possible combinations while adapting to increasingly dangerous encounters.

This distinctive mechanic forms the heart of the game’s combat system, encouraging experimentation and strategic decision-making throughout each run. Swapping body parts not only unlocks powerful new abilities but also helps players survive the relentless challenges spread across the game’s alien worlds.

The 1.0 launch introduces several new planets to explore alongside fresh mutations that further expand build variety. Players can also expect numerous quality-of-life improvements designed to streamline progression and enhance the overall gameplay experience. For those who have fought their way through previous content, the update finally adds the ultimate challenge with the arrival of the game’s final boss.

Adding to today’s announcement, acclaimed composer Austin Wintory has been revealed as the musical talent behind SWAPMEAT’s soundtrack. Wintory is widely known for his work on celebrated titles such as Journey, Flow, and Hades II, bringing his signature style to the game’s bizarre sci-fi universe.

Steam Deck owners also have reason to celebrate, as SWAPMEAT is now officially Steam Deck Verified. Players can take the action-packed roguelite on the go and continue swapping alien body parts wherever they choose to play.

With its full 1.0 release now available, SWAPMEAT offers players the complete version of its unique blend of frantic shooter action, roguelite progression, and endlessly customizable body-swapping gameplay.
