A new cooperative horror extraction experience has entered the spotlight. Developer Collision Games and publisher Blue Brain Games have officially unveiled Expendabots during the Future Games Show: Summer Showcase, introducing a frantic multiplayer adventure where survival, scavenging, and teamwork are the keys to making it out alive.
Set in a mysterious alternate universe, Expendabots sends up to four players into the dangerous Custody Zone, a forbidden archipelago filled with abandoned facilities, malfunctioning machinery, and valuable relics waiting to be recovered. Each expedition challenges players to explore procedurally generated islands, gather resources, solve puzzles, and escape before everything is lost.

One of the game’s most unique features is the portable 3D printer mounted on every Expendabot. This mobile crafting system allows players to create essential equipment in the field, including emergency power cells, useful tools, and decoys designed to distract hostile enemies. Crafting on the move becomes a critical part of survival as players navigate increasingly dangerous environments.

The Custody Zone itself is controlled by remnants of a forgotten past. Ancient machines continue to follow long-abandoned directives, while hidden facilities protect secrets that have remained buried for years. Players work for the Nullshore Consortium, deploying expendable robotic units tasked with recovering valuable technology from locations considered too dangerous for human explorers.

Communication will play a major role in every mission thanks to the game’s proximity voice chat system. Conversations between teammates can be overheard by enemy NPCs, forcing squads to carefully balance coordination with stealth.

Each run offers a fresh experience through procedurally generated islands and dungeons. Players will encounter five distinct dungeon types, each featuring unique environments, puzzles, and enemy encounters. Progression is tied to robotic arm upgrades, unlocking new abilities and mechanics that expand exploration and survival options over time.

Even when disaster strikes, fallen teammates are not necessarily gone for good. Expendabots can be revived by recovering their heart and returning it to a large 3D printer, giving squads another reason to stick together when things become chaotic.

Expendabots is currently in development for PC and Mac and can be wishlisted on Steam now.
