Publisher Numskull Games and developer PASSION Games, in collaboration with Hyper Luminal Games, have announced that The Day I Became a Bird will launch on April 16 for PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation.

Inspired by children’s literature and animated storytelling, The Day I Became a Bird follows Frank, a quiet child navigating the complicated emotions of his first crush. The object of his affection is Sylvia, a girl who seems far more interested in birds than anything else. Determined to catch her attention, Frank embarks on a gentle journey through classrooms, playgrounds, and imaginative dreamlike spaces.

The game blends exploration, collection, and light puzzle-solving with a painterly visual style designed to feel like stepping inside a storybook. Players experience Frank’s attempts to overcome shyness and express himself, turning simple moments into a heartfelt narrative about growing up, vulnerability, and courage.

The project is based on a storybook created by French author Ingrid Chabbert and Spanish illustrator Guridi. The original work was later adapted into an animated short by PASSION Animation, and the game builds on that foundation by combining the visual style of the book and film with interactive storytelling.

Rather than focusing on fast-paced gameplay, The Day I Became a Bird leans into atmosphere, emotion, and quiet moments. The experience is designed to be welcoming to players of all ages, offering a reflective alternative to more action-heavy titles while emphasizing mood, curiosity, and the universal feeling of wanting to be seen by someone you care about.

The game will launch in two editions. The standard edition includes the base game, while the Feathered Adventurer Edition bundles the game with a digital artbook, the original soundtrack, and the animated short film. Players who purchase either edition on Steam or PlayStation will also receive the film.

Ahead of its release, The Day I Became a Bird has also been selected as part of the official lineup for the London Games Festival 2026 and will be playable during the festival’s New Game Plus event on April 16 and 17.
