Indie developer SOTO Game Studio has unveiled its debut title Luminas: Parasite Reign, a 3D horde survivor roguelite headed to Steam. Players eager to jump in won’t have to wait long to try it out—an early demo is scheduled to arrive on March 26.
Set in the magical land of Solaris, the game tasks players with assembling a party of supernatural creatures known as Luminas to battle relentless swarms of parasitic enemies threatening their world. Each run challenges players to survive increasingly chaotic waves while building powerful spell combinations and evolving their team into stronger forms.
A New Spin on the Survivors Formula
Unlike many entries in the survivors-style genre, Luminas: Parasite Reign revolves around party-based strategy. Players start a run by choosing a Lumina such as Pyropeep the dragon or Shelly the turtle, then expand their team to a maximum of three members while exploring the map.
Additional Luminas can be awakened during a run, while treasure chests unlock new spells and stat boosts. Each character brings unique elemental abilities that shape your strategy, allowing you to lean into damage-heavy builds, explosive area attacks, or defensive support-focused setups.
As enemy swarms grow larger and more dangerous, players will need to carefully balance spell choices and upgrades to survive.
Build Powerful Synergies
Team composition plays a major role in success. Pairing specific Luminas together can unlock new spell upgrades or reveal rare abilities, giving players plenty of opportunities to experiment with different builds.
Between runs, gold earned in battle can be spent back at the village hub to purchase treasure, upgrade skill trees, and further customize your team. As Luminas grow stronger, they can eventually evolve, gaining new traits and stat boosts that dramatically change their capabilities.
Early Demo Content
The upcoming demo will provide an early look at the game’s systems, allowing players to explore the first biome, experiment with several Luminas, and face off against the opening boss encounters.
