Crown of Greed Puts a New Spin on Fantasy RTS Strategy

Rule a kingdom through gold, influence, and clever manipulation instead of direct commands

A new fantasy strategy game is challenging players to rethink how they lead an army. Crown of Greed takes inspiration from classic strategy titles like Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim but flips the formula by removing direct control over your units. Instead, players must guide their kingdom through influence, incentives, and a well-stocked treasury.

Set in the folklore-rich land of Rodovia, Crown of Greed places players in the role of a ruler whose subjects have minds of their own. Rather than issuing direct orders, you’ll motivate heroes and citizens using gold rewards and bounties. Need a monster den destroyed or a dangerous ruin explored? Post a bounty and hope the right hero decides the reward is worth the risk.

The full release includes a 12-mission story campaign, each designed to expand upon the mechanics introduced in earlier demos. Missions vary in complexity and length, with branching side objectives that shift depending on the choices players make. The developers have aimed for a more non-linear structure, encouraging players to revisit scenarios and experiment with different strategies rather than simply progressing through a checklist of levels.

Building and expanding your kingdom is also a central part of the experience. Starting with a modest settlement, players gradually develop Rodovia into a thriving medieval empire by placing buildings, managing resources, and maintaining a strong economy. Each structure can attract new types of heroes, each bringing unique skills, personalities, and sometimes unexpected problems.

Exploration plays a big role as well. The lands of Rodovia draw heavily from European folklore, featuring eerie forests, murky swamps, and frozen wilderness filled with creatures like Basilisks, Drowners, and the legendary Baba Yaga. Greater dangers promise greater rewards, tempting players to take risks in pursuit of more gold and stronger influence.

When diplomacy and coin fail, magic provides another tool. As your kingdom grows, so does access to arcane abilities that can aid heroes in battle or unleash devastation on your enemies.

Heroes themselves are far from predictable. Recruited champions come with randomized traits—some beneficial, others problematic. A powerful warrior might excel at fighting undead but suffer from fragile health, while a talented rogue could carry hidden flaws or costly habits that complicate your plans.

Progress across the campaign also feeds into the game’s Heritage System. By earning Heritage Points during missions, players unlock permanent upgrades that strengthen their kingdom in future scenarios, allowing each playthrough to build upon the last.

Alongside the base game, an optional Supporter Pack DLC will be available for players interested in the project’s development and world-building. The pack includes a 90-page digital artbook filled with concept art, more than 50 minutes of original music composed by Ignacy Zalewski, and a collection of high-resolution wallpapers.

With its emphasis on indirect leadership, unpredictable heroes, and strategic resource management, Crown of Greed offers a different take on the fantasy RTS formula—one where the real power lies not in issuing orders, but in knowing how to motivate those who refuse to obey.
