Indie developer Indifferent Penguin has announced that Tackle for Loss, its fast, violent, top-down action game inspired by American football, is launching on PC on February 5, 2026—just days before the real-world Super Bowl kicks off.

Drawing clear inspiration from Hotline Miami and the relentless intensity of Taken, Tackle for Loss puts players in the cleats of a former pro football player forced back into action. Bruised, broken, and haunted by years of concussions, the protagonist dives headfirst into a criminal underworld to rescue his kidnapped daughter, relying on raw instinct, explosive power, and zero margin for error.

Four Downs. No Mistakes.
Combat in Tackle for Loss is built around a clever twist on American football’s four-down rule. Each floor of the game’s multi-story buildings limits players to just four offensive actions, turning every encounter into a high-speed tactical puzzle. You’ll need to read room layouts, plan your route in advance, and fully commit to your “drive” once the action starts.

There’s no room for hesitation. Every character in the game—including the protagonist—dies in a single hit, making precision and momentum essential. Quick restarts keep the action flowing, encouraging players to learn from mistakes and perfect their strategy floor by floor.

Fast, Furious, and Unforgiving
According to developer Daniel Wichterich, the goal was to create something that feels as intense to play as it looks. He describes Tackle for Loss as a love letter to fast, aggressive action games, channeling the raw energy and violence of American football into a completely different genre.

If you’re craving a brutally efficient action game where every move counts and every mistake is fatal, Tackle for Losslooks ready to deliver.

Tackle for Loss launches on PC on February 5, 2026, and is available to wishlist now on Steam.
