Publisher 505 Pulse and developer Avantgarden have released Among the Trolls, a first-person narrative adventure inspired by Finnish mythology and folklore. The game is now available on Steam for $19.99, with a 15% launch discount running through October 27.
Players follow Anna, who travels from the United States to her grandfather’s remote cabin in Finland, only to discover that he has disappeared. Her search leads into a mysterious wilderness where the forest holds ancient secrets and family history intertwines with local legends.
Exploration and environmental storytelling drive the experience as players uncover clues about Anna’s family and investigate the circumstances surrounding her grandfather’s disappearance. The game focuses on creating an atmospheric world where nature feels alive and Finnish folklore shapes the journey.
Among the Trolls also features an original soundtrack by award-winning composer Daniele Carmosino. Blending piano, cello, strings, analog synthesizers, and vocals, the music reflects Anna’s isolation and loss. The track “Endless Exile,” featuring vocalist Maria Chiara Argirò, adds darker trip-hop influences to the soundtrack.
