SEGA and GPTRACK50 have released the first entry in a new developer commentary series for Stupid Never Dies, offering a closer look at the pop-punk action RPG ahead of its October 21 launch on PC and PlayStation 5.

Stupid Never Dies screenshot 1 Titled Deep Bite #1: Action, the video features director Eiichiro Sasaki walking players through the game’s chaotic combat and its unusually fearless protagonist, Davy. As a zombie, Davy has one major advantage over most dungeon-crawling heroes: he is already dead.

That changes the feel of combat. Rather than treating every hit as a reason to retreat, Davy can keep pushing forward into the underworld’s monsters. The game leans into that idea with aggressive close-range action, bizarre upgrades, and rapid power growth during each run through the dungeon.

Steal Powers and Rebuild Davy’s Body

As Davy travels deeper into the domain of KOM, the King of Monsters, he gains access to new ways of fighting. One of the game’s central systems is Style Eat, which allows Davy to consume enemies and take on their abilities.

The Steam page lists 11 different Styles, including Werewolf, Harpy, Golem, and Vampire. Each gives Davy a different way to approach the dungeon’s increasingly dangerous enemies.

Davy can also collect Overtech gear and use Body Hack at Acelino’s body shop. These upgrades replace parts of his undead body, improve his stats, and unlock active and passive abilities. The idea is to let players build a version of Davy that suits how they want to fight rather than locking them into one approach.

Then there is Davy Burst, his ultimate ability. By building enough energy, Davy can unleash a temporary transformation that boosts his abilities and turns the action even more chaotic.

    Getting Stronger With Every Dive

Stupid Never Dies is built around a fast growth loop. Each dive into the dungeon allows Davy to stack XP bonuses, helping him become more powerful over a short period of time. That should make the game’s repeat runs feel less like starting over and more like steadily turning the weakest zombie in monster society into a serious threat.

The story follows Davy as he tries to bring Julia, a frozen human girl, back to life. To do that, he will have to survive a monster-filled otherworldly dungeon, defeat KOM, and recover knowledge lost to humanity.

The game is being developed by GPTRACK50, a studio founded by veteran action-game developers. Stupid Never Dieslaunches October 21, 2026, for PC via Steam and PlayStation 5. A Standard Edition will cost $49.99, while the Glorious Idiot Edition will be available for $59.99 and includes early access and additional in-game content.
