Targem Games has announced Star Conflict: Burrownauts, a new action roguelite set within the Star Conflict universe. The game combines the relaxed pace of resource mining and exploration with fast-paced bullet-heaven combat as players travel to ancient planetoids, search for rare materials, upgrade their spacecraft and defend their base against waves of enemies.
At the heart of Star Conflict: Burrownauts is the contrast between peaceful exploration and intense combat. Players can spend time navigating the interiors of planetoids and searching for valuable deposits before returning to defend their base from attacking enemies. As they progress, they’ll encounter familiar ships, technologies and other elements from the Star Conflict universe, now presented within a story focused on mining expeditions, dangerous missions and the search for evidence of civilizations that disappeared long ago.

Humanity abandoned Earth centuries ago in the hope of finding new places to live, but expanding across the galaxy proved more difficult than expected. Survival now depends heavily on resources recovered by miners working on distant planetoids, putting players in the role of one such miner.

Each expedition begins by landing on an ancient planetoid and making a path toward valuable resource deposits. Players will need to collect rare materials while keeping an eye on their ship’s systems and preparing for increasingly dangerous missions. The resources gathered during expeditions can be used to improve the ship, giving players the tools they need to take on tougher challenges.

The dangers aren’t limited to the environments themselves. Space bandits and other hostile forces can attack in large numbers, turning an otherwise peaceful expedition into a frantic fight for survival. Players will need to defend their base and make it back with their collected resources, making every expedition a balance between exploration, resource gathering and knowing when to fight or retreat.
