Independent narrative studio Salix Games, in collaboration with Gameinaframe, has announced that Limerence will launch for PC on October 29, 2026. The intimate narrative experience explores loneliness, artificial intimacy, and what happens when an AI companion is designed to provide unconditional affection.
The game takes place entirely within a fictional smartphone interface and follows Claire, a woman struggling with a deeply personal loss. Seeking comfort, she turns to LiAIson, an AI relationship app where she creates Kai, a digital partner designed around her needs, desires, and emotional vulnerabilities.
What initially provides Claire with reassurance gradually becomes more complicated as her relationship with Kai begins to extend beyond the confines of the app. As the digital relationship becomes increasingly intertwined with her everyday life, players must deal with the consequences of a connection built around complete devotion rather than the compromise and uncertainty found in human relationships.

Limerence tells its story through messages, voice notes, social media feeds, and other fragments of everyday digital life. Players will revisit previous conversations and memories as new information changes their understanding of events, while subtle choices influence Claire’s relationships, self-perception, and emotional trajectory.
The game also examines the idea of a relationship that never challenges, rejects, or leaves its user. As Kai becomes increasingly tailored to Claire, Limerence explores what connection means when companionship can be shaped around someone’s every preference.

The dialogue is fully scripted and performed by a cast that includes Samantha Béart, best known for voicing Karlach in Baldur’s Gate 3. Voice recordings were captured on phones to preserve the immediacy and realism of the game’s digital presentation.
“I wasn’t inspired to make Limerence because I’d experienced limerence myself, but because I’d seen the effect that kind of intense attachment can have on people close to me,” said Jessica Saunders, founder of Salix Games. “Watching friends become consumed by relationships that were unhealthy, obsessive, and difficult to let go of made me want to explore those emotions through an interactive story.”

Saunders added that AI provided a natural framework for examining intimacy and dependency, particularly when companionship can be shaped around a person’s individual needs. She described Limerence as a story about loneliness and vulnerability, as well as the comfort and danger of believing in something because you need it to be real.

Throughout the game, players will explore a simulated smartphone filled with messages, apps, and social feeds while developing a relationship with Kai. The AI companion’s personality responds to Claire’s choices, while revisiting conversations and uncovering hidden details can change the meaning of events that have already taken place.

Players will also make subtle decisions that influence Claire’s relationships and emotional journey, uncover information hidden within her everyday digital life, and determine which truths she is willing to confront.
