Developed by Brazilian indie studio Soneka Games and published by Vsoo Games, Dreamcards is a roguelike deckbuilding adventure that takes players into the recurring dreams of a withdrawn protagonist known only as Self. As players journey through surreal dreamscapes inspired by memories and relationships, they’ll build increasingly powerful decks while battling the ever-changing Monster Within before each dream descends into a nightmare.
At the heart of Dreamcards is the satisfaction of creating game-breaking card combinations. Players begin with modest decks that can quickly evolve into powerful engines capable of generating massive amounts of resources, drawing additional cards, repeating abilities, and scaling into devastating single-turn strategies. With the right combinations, it’s possible to achieve victory in spectacular fashion or even reach a Lucid Dream through unexpected paths.

The game’s progression is shaped by relationships, with each central character supporting different resources, card types, and playstyles. Players can further customize their strategies by applying Stickers to individual cards and developing seven unique Archetypes in different directions, encouraging experimentation across multiple playthroughs.

Dreamcards also places a strong emphasis on visual storytelling. More than 200 hand-drawn illustrations and animations bring its dreamlike world to life, while over 80 wordless illustrated memories gradually reveal Self’s past without relying on dialogue or lengthy exposition. The result is a narrative that encourages players to piece together the story through exploration and observation.

The Monster Within serves as the game’s ever-present threat, taking on multiple forms that actively interfere with gameplay by disrupting the player’s hand, increasing card costs, altering shop options, and creating new strategic challenges. Success is determined by balancing the forces of Sun and Pluto—reaching +10 leads to a Lucid Dream, while falling to -10 causes Self to descend into a Nightmare.

Combining highly scalable deckbuilding mechanics with psychological themes and striking hand-drawn artwork, Dreamcards aims to deliver a fresh take on the roguelike card game genre.
