Fans of classic over-the-top sports games won’t have to wait much longer to experience one of the year’s most unusual multiplayer titles. Pro Jank Footy, developed by Powerbomb Games and Tinker Town and published by Umbrella Gaming, is set to launch on August 12, 2026, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 1 and 2.
Inspired by arcade legends like NBA Jam and NHL ’94, Pro Jank Footy takes Australian Rules Football and transforms it into an unpredictable party game filled with absurd twists. While the core gameplay begins with the familiar rules of the sport, every goal scored dramatically changes the match by allowing the opposing team to select a new power-up that permanently alters gameplay.

With more than 150 different modifiers available, matches can quickly spiral into complete chaos. Players can boost their own team with speed enhancements or superstar athletes, sabotage opponents by shrinking them or making them constantly slip, or completely rewrite the rules by adding extra goalposts, introducing a third team, or transforming every player into footballs, seagulls, or even both at once. As these effects continue to stack throughout each game, no two matches unfold the same way.

The game features 10 fictional Australian-themed clubs, each with its own personality, competing across four unique stadiums ranging from traditional suburban football grounds to a shopping center parking lot. Designed with local multiplayer in mind, Pro Jank Footy emphasizes couch co-op while also supporting online play for those looking to challenge friends across the globe.

For solo players, Season Mode offers a roguelike-inspired campaign where competitors select a randomized set of three power-ups before attempting to defeat every team in the league. Choosing the right combination of upgrades becomes key to surviving an increasingly unpredictable season.

The game’s comedic presentation is further enhanced by the involvement of creative director David Ashby, co-creator of Italian Spiderman and Danger 5. Australian comedian Broden Kelly of Aunty Donna provides energetic play-by-play commentary that reacts to the constantly escalating madness on the field.

Pro Jank Footy has already generated attention on the indie showcase circuit, appearing at events including Day of the Devs, Playtopia, and BitSummit. In Australia, playable arcade cabinets have even been installed in pubs throughout Melbourne, helping the title build a dedicated following ahead of release.

Blending classic arcade sports gameplay with roguelike progression and a healthy dose of Australian humor, Pro Jank Footy looks to deliver a fast-paced multiplayer experience where every match becomes stranger than the last when it launches on August 12.
