Focus Entertainment Publishing and developer Uppercut Games have officially unveiled Magicians: The Devil’s Deal, a new narrative-driven first-person action game scheduled to launch in 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass.

Set within a dark and twisted version of Victorian London known as Theatreland, the game places players in the role of Jacob Menteuro, a celebrated stage magician whose talents become something far more dangerous after a deal with the Devil. Following a betrayal by a group of powerful rivals known as the Masters, Jacob is cast into Hell and left to face an eternity of suffering. However, an unexpected pact grants him supernatural abilities, sending him on a quest for revenge through a world built on illusion, ambition, and deception.

At its core, Magicians: The Devil’s Deal blends first-person combat, exploration, and magical abilities inspired by classic stage performances. Players will wield deadly playing cards as projectiles, ensnare enemies with enchanted chains, and manipulate gravity itself while battling through the shifting realms of Theatreland. Each region is controlled by one of the Masters and populated by dangerous fanatics, monstrous performers, and other supernatural threats.

Uppercut Games describes the experience as a journey where observation, adaptation, and mastery are essential for survival. As Jacob defeats the Masters and steals their powers, players will uncover the truth behind the betrayal that condemned him while descending deeper into a world where every victory comes at a cost.

The game represents the first collaboration between Focus Entertainment and the Australian studio Uppercut Games. According to Focus Entertainment Deputy CEO Vincent Chataignier, the project stood out due to its unique setting and gameplay possibilities, aligning with the publisher’s focus on delivering distinctive player experiences.

Uppercut Games Co-Founder and Director Ed Orman explained that the team drew inspiration from 1890s stage magic posters filled with demons, elaborate illusions, and larger-than-life performers. Those influences helped shape a world where storytelling, exploration, and magical spectacle are central to the experience.

Theatreland itself serves as an infernal reflection of Victorian London buried deep within Hell. Each realm reflects the twisted influence of its ruling Master, creating environments where reality constantly shifts and appearances can never be trusted. Throughout the adventure, players will encounter strange characters, uncover hidden secrets, and navigate a world where performance and power are inseparable.

Magicians: The Devil’s Deal is currently planned for release in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game will also launch day one on Xbox Game Pass and support Xbox Play Anywhere.
