Publisher 4Divinity and developer Eschatology Entertainment have officially unveiled Guns of Eschaton, a first-person shooter that combines methodical Souls-like gameplay with a dark, supernatural take on the Old West. The title also carries special significance as the final original universe envisioned by the late Viktor Antonov, the acclaimed art director whose work helped define the visual identity of Half-Life 2 and Dishonored.
Set in an alternate nineteenth-century America on the brink of collapse, Guns of Eschaton reimagines iconic Western history through a supernatural lens. Players will journey across a dying nation, traveling from the frontier to the East Coast while confronting terrifying enemies, mysterious forces, and the ever-present threat of death.

Combat is designed around careful planning rather than reckless gunplay. Ammunition is limited, making every shot meaningful as players study enemy weaknesses using the Codex and its Sequence Points system. Success depends on choosing the right ammunition, mastering perfectly timed parries, executing precise evasive dashes, and making the most of powerful occult abilities.

Character progression offers extensive customization, allowing players to create their own legendary gunslinger. A wide variety of firearms, ammunition types, talismans, armor, consumables, and supernatural powers can be combined into unique builds, encouraging experimentation with different combat styles and synergistic abilities.

The game’s haunting world is one of its biggest draws. Viktor Antonov’s signature artistic vision transforms the American frontier into an eerie landscape where classic Western imagery collides with occult horror and apocalyptic mythology, creating a setting unlike anything typically seen in the genre.

Players won’t have to face the dangers alone, either. Guns of Eschaton supports both solo play and cooperative multiplayer, with full progression available regardless of whether players choose to brave the journey by themselves or alongside friends.

With its distinctive blend of tactical first-person combat, Souls-like difficulty, deep RPG progression, and a haunting world shaped by one of gaming’s most celebrated visual artists, Guns of Eschaton is already shaping up to be one of the more intriguing action RPGs on the horizon.
