Developer Zymartu Games has released a new demo for Fields of Aaru as part of the Women-Led Games Showcase during Summer Game Fest, giving players their first opportunity to explore a vibrant afterlife inspired by ancient Egyptian mythology.
In Fields of Aaru, players begin a new existence in Aaru, the legendary paradise of Egyptian lore. Settling along the fertile banks of the Nile, you’ll establish a home, help rebuild a struggling riverside community, and embrace a peaceful lifestyle centered around farming, fishing, crafting, and resource gathering.

Life in Aaru offers a blend of cozy simulation gameplay and community-building. Players will work alongside local residents, complete quests, improve the village, and help transform the settlement into a thriving hub of activity. Farming and irrigation systems play a key role in shaping the land, while traditional crafts inspired by ancient Egypt add depth to daily life.
However, the world of Fields of Aaru extends far beyond the tranquil riverbanks.

As players venture into the surrounding deserts, they will uncover hidden oases, forgotten ruins, towering pyramids, and mysterious tombs concealed beneath the sands. Exploration rewards players with rare resources, ancient knowledge, and opportunities to uncover the secrets of the afterlife.

A central progression system revolves around restoring magical obelisks scattered throughout the world. These ancient structures unlock new regions to explore while also providing fast travel options and additional abilities that help players journey deeper into the desert.

The game also incorporates elements of Egyptian mythology through a blessing system tied to the gods. By making offerings at shrines, players can earn divine powers and special bonuses that aid both exploration and community development.

Players will also have the opportunity to learn a variety of traditional crafts, including stone shaping, clay firing, and canal construction, further expanding their ability to customize and improve both their home and the surrounding environment.

With its combination of farming, exploration, village restoration, and mythological discovery, Fields of Aaru aims to deliver a relaxing yet rewarding adventure set within one of history’s most fascinating cultures.
The Fields of Aaru demo is available now on Steam.
