Developer Windrose Crew has announced that its pirate survival-adventure game Windrose will launch into Early Access on April 14. The reveal came during the Triple-i Initiative Showcase, confirming that the game will arrive on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Stove.
Currently one of the most wishlisted titles on Steam, Windrose invites players to step into the boots of a pirate captain seeking revenge on the high seas. The game can be played solo or with a crew of up to four players as they explore a massive open world filled with quests, naval combat, and hidden treasures.
A Pirate Adventure Across Land and Sea
In Windrose, players travel across a procedurally generated world featuring three distinct biomes packed with enemies, handcrafted locations, and quests to complete. The game blends exploration and survival mechanics with souls-lite inspired combat, where players can wield a wide range of weapons including sabers, maces, and muskets.
Players will encounter powerful bosses, build their own pirate stronghold, and improve their reputation with different factions across the world. Activities like trading, farming, and fishing also play a role in expanding your pirate settlement.
Command Your Own Ship
Naval combat plays a central role in the adventure. Players can command their own vessel, customizing ships such as the nimble ketch, versatile brig, or the imposing frigate. Battles at sea allow captains to exchange cannon fire from a distance or close in for intense boarding actions.
One of the most requested features from the demo—co-op ship battles—will also be included in Early Access. Crew members can share control of the ship’s weapons and coordinate attacks while battling rival ships on the open sea.
A Popular Demo Leads to Early Access
The game gained significant attention during Steam Next Fest, where more than 850,000 players tried the demo. The upcoming Early Access release will expand on that experience with dozens of hours of content, including additional ships, expanded progression systems, and new features requested by the community.
Players will be able to customize their pirate captain through skill points, talents, and armor sets while exploring the seas, building settlements, and uncovering the secrets hidden across the world.
With its blend of survival systems, exploration, and high-seas combat, Windrose aims to deliver a pirate adventure where every crew can carve out its own legend.
