Studios Rever Games and Radical Theory have officially unveiled Clockfall, a new hybrid action-RPG roguelite built around a unique time-management mechanic. Developed by the five-person indie team at Rever Games and co-published alongside Radical Theory, the title aims to shake up the genre by combining fast-paced dungeon crawling with strategic village defense gameplay. Clockfall is scheduled to launch in Early Access on Steam later this year, with a full release planned for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2027.
Players eager to try the game early can already sign up for the ongoing PC playtest while development continues.

Escape the Nightmare Before Time Runs Out
In Clockfall, players are trapped inside a relentless nightmare loop. The only way out is to fight through dangerous dungeons filled with deadly enemies and towering bosses. But brute strength alone won’t be enough to survive. Time is the most valuable resource in the game, and every second spent exploring the nightmare counts toward an inevitable end.

Progress depends on making tough strategic decisions during each run. Players can invest valuable resources to improve combat abilities, sacrifice short-term progress in order to gain additional time, or carefully optimize movement and exploration to reach deeper layers of the nightmare before the clock runs out. Every choice directly affects how far a run can go and whether escape is even possible.

A Strategic Twist: Defending the Village
What sets Clockfall apart from traditional roguelites is its dual gameplay structure. High-intensity dungeon exploration is regularly interrupted by village defense phases that challenge players in a completely different way.

Everything collected during dungeon runs—resources, upgrades, and experience—must be used to strengthen and protect the player’s settlement. As waves of enemies grow increasingly dangerous, defending the village becomes critical. Successfully holding the line unlocks permanent upgrades including new weapons, spells, character bonuses, and stat improvements that make future runs more powerful. These defenses are essential to surviving the nightmare loop and eventually pushing far enough to break it.

Master the Clock, Break the Loop
The story of Clockfall centers on a village destroyed by mysterious forces known as the hordes of Destiny. Amid the ruins stands a mystical clock that traps the player in a cycle of reliving the same devastating events. Each attempt to escape sends players back into the past, forcing them to confront the same horrors again and again as time relentlessly ticks away.
Combat plays a major role in this fight against fate. Players will battle through fast-paced encounters that blend steel and magic while navigating dangerous environments and learning the layout of each dungeon. As experience grows, players can unlock powerful weapons, devastating spells, and defensive structures to protect their village from the next invasion.

Progression is tied closely to time itself. Surviving longer and defending the settlement unlocks permanent bonuses that extend future runs or grant powerful abilities. Choosing how to balance time management with combat strength becomes the heart of the experience.
Clockfall’s design encourages players to experiment with builds, strategies, and upgrades while mastering the relationship between dungeon exploration and settlement defense. With each attempt, players learn more about the nightmare, grow stronger, and move one step closer to breaking the loop and saving their people.

Key Features
Clockfall blends the intensity of a dungeon crawler with the depth of an action-RPG, creating a roguelite experience that constantly shifts between exploration and strategic village defense. Time acts as the ultimate resource, forcing players to carefully manage every moment while navigating dangerous dungeons and preparing their settlement for incoming invasions.

Combat focuses on fast, visceral encounters that combine melee weapons and magical abilities. As the roguelite systems evolve from run to run, players must adapt to new challenges while developing their character through deep progression systems that influence both playstyle and long-term strategy.
Exploration and experimentation are central to the experience. Each run encourages players to learn from failure, gather resources, and refine their approach. By mastering the synergy between dungeon crawling and village defense, players will gradually push further into the nightmare and uncover the path to finally breaking the time loop.
