AREA 35 has announced a limited-time playtest for Tiny Metal 2, the upcoming sequel in the tactical wargame series. The month-long test runs from April 2 through April 29 on Steam, giving players their first chance to jump back into the franchise since Tiny Metal: Full Metal Rumble launched in 2019.
The playtest will feature both single-player and local co-op multiplayer, allowing players to experience the game’s large-scale tactical battles while providing feedback on balance, pacing, and overall gameplay systems. Participation is limited, so interested players can request access through Steam.

During the playtest, commanders can experiment with new factions alongside returning ones while deploying mixed-unit armies across dynamic battlefields. A new combat system called Focus Fire allows multiple allied units to coordinate attacks into a single powerful strike, adding another strategic layer to battles.

The test will also introduce larger maps designed for up to four players and expanded combat environments that span land, air, and—making its debut in the series—naval warfare. Players will be able to command fleets of battleships, destroyers, and submarines, creating new strategies across sea-based battlefields.

Fans attending PAX East 2026 in Boston can also get hands-on with Tiny Metal 2 at AREA 35’s booth (#15043). The studio will also showcase the Apple Arcade rhythm title Felicity’s Door and debut a new multiplayer arcade project currently known as Project Blitz.

Tiny Metal 2 is currently scheduled to launch in spring 2027.
