After its initial reveal during the November Xbox Showcase, developer ACE Team and publisher NACON have shared new details about their upcoming cooperative horror adventure, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu. The game is set to launch on July 15, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Inspired by the cosmic horror works of H. P. Lovecraft, the game places players in the role of explorers during the Conquistador era. Working together in teams of up to four, players embark on dangerous expeditions to a mysterious and cursed land in search of treasure, lost secrets, and a legendary hidden city.

Each mission begins aboard a galleon, where El Capitán assigns a contract. Objectives can include recovering riches, locating a missing person, or uncovering the remains of an ancient fort. But once players step onto the island’s jungle-covered shores, the expedition quickly becomes a fight for survival as terrifying creatures and supernatural forces begin to emerge.

Exploration is structured around cooperative expeditions where teams must gather valuables and discover new areas of the island before the situation spirals out of control. The longer players remain in the jungle, the more aggressive and numerous the enemies become. With limited inventory space and basic equipment, avoiding confrontation and working together is often the safest strategy.

However, the monsters aren’t the only threat. As explorers encounter cosmic horrors, their sanity slowly begins to deteriorate. Hallucinations can twist reality in dangerous ways—teammates may appear as monsters, safe ground could actually be a deadly trap, and the jungle itself may seem to come alive. Distinguishing reality from madness becomes a crucial part of surviving each expedition.

If players manage to return alive, their captain will reward them with new contracts and even more dangerous journeys into the unknown.
With cooperative survival, psychological horror mechanics, and a Lovecraft-inspired setting, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu aims to deliver a tense multiplayer experience when it arrives on July 15, 2026.
