Maximum Entertainment has confirmed that Overthrown will officially launch into version 1.0 on March 18, 2026. The full release arrives on PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 — and it’s bringing the game’s biggest content drop yet: the Airship Update.
Currently available in Early Access and Xbox Game Preview, Overthrown blends chaotic physics-driven action with city-building strategy, casting players as a monarch empowered by a mysterious, soul-stealing crown.

Rule with Magic — and Mayhem
Set in a dangerous wilderness, Overthrown challenges players to construct and defend a growing kingdom while facing off against bandits, mutants, and increasingly deadly threats. The twist? Nearly everything can be picked up and thrown.

Whether playing solo or teaming up in up to six-player co-op, rulers must balance expansion, defense, and resource management while surviving relentless assaults on their domain.

The Airship Update Takes the Fight to the Skies
Launching alongside version 1.0, the Airship Update dramatically expands the battlefield. Players can now build and command their own airships, launching aerial assaults on outlaw camps and shifting the balance of power skyward.

But air superiority isn’t cheap. Airships demand heavy mana upkeep, forcing players to carefully manage magical resources to avoid overextending their kingdom. Outlaws won’t sit idle either — they’ll deploy their own airships, escalating combat into a full-blown aerial arms race.
To counter these new threats, the update introduces the Cannon Tower. Unlike existing siege defenses, this structure delivers direct-fire precision against both ground units and airborne enemies. And yes, outlaw camps can build them too.

Deadlier Enemies and New Regions
Outlaw camps are becoming far more formidable. The Airship Update expands their layouts and introduces three new enemy types:
-
Scrappers – Support units that hang back to repair damaged structures.
-
Ringleaders – Heavily armored elite foes, limited to one per camp.
-
Firestarters – Nighttime infiltrators that sneak into settlements to ignite devastating fires.

As if that weren’t enough, a terrifying new creature enters the fray: the Devourer. If Snappers are left unchecked, they can evolve into these massive beasts capable of swallowing entire buildings — and even ships.
Three new levels also join the lineup, each centered around unique ecosystems. The Highland Plateau, in particular, emphasizes vertical design and aerial strategy, making full use of the new sky-based mechanics.

With its 1.0 launch and Airship Update arriving day one, Overthrown is preparing to deliver its most ambitious version yet. The game will also be available at launch through Xbox Game Pass when it fully releases on March 18, 2026.
Ready to rule, rebuild, and rain chaos from above? Your kingdom awaits.
