NC America has announced a new publishing partnership with independent studio emptyvessel to bring the upcoming cyberpunk first-person shooter DEFECT to multiple platforms in the future.

The agreement gives the studio additional publishing support and resources as development continues on the close-quarters tactical shooter. With the backing of NC America, the team will be able to further expand the game’s multiplayer foundation while also investing in new single-player gameplay experiences.

DEFECT is designed as a team-based, objective-driven FPS that focuses on intense cooperative combat and fast-paced firefights. The game aims to deliver a high-adrenaline experience for players looking for tactical gameplay within a gritty cyberpunk setting.

The developer behind the project, emptyvessel, was founded in 2023 by industry veterans including CEO Emanuel Palalicand COO Garrett Young. The studio’s team brings more than a century of combined experience working on some of gaming’s biggest franchises, including DOOM, Quake, Call of Duty, and The Last of Us.

While a release date has not yet been announced, the new partnership positions DEFECT for a broader launch as development continues. More details about the project and its platforms are expected to be revealed at a later date.
