Sidekick Publishing and developer Randwerk have officially teamed up to bring WANDERBURG to a wider audience—and they’re kicking things off with a playable demo during Steam Next Fest.

The open-world roguelike made a strong first impression during its breakout showing at the PC Gaming Show, where its reveal trailer quickly gained traction. Since then, the game has amassed more than 250,000 wishlists and drew over 126,000 players into a recent closed playtest. Now, fans can finally get their hands on it as part of Steam Next Fest, running February 23 through March 2.

A Castle That Eats the World
At its core, WANDERBURG is about commanding a rolling fortress in a strange medieval ecosystem where castles roam the land on wheels. Inspired by the mechanical sprawl of Mortal Engines and the whimsical machinery of Howl’s Moving Castle, the game blends fantasy with absurd, anachronistic tech.
Players control a mobile stronghold that quite literally devours everything in its path. Rival castles, villages, and hostile machines all become fuel for growth. The more you consume, the larger and more powerful your fortress becomes.

Build, Battle, Repeat
Combat is fast and reactive, demanding tight vehicle control and smart ability timing. Between runs, players expand and customize their fortress with modular upgrades including flamethrowers, cannons, wizard towers, and explosive mines. Boss victories unlock new vehicles, weapons, and evolving playstyles, reinforcing the roguelike loop.
The procedurally generated map ensures no two journeys play out the same, with diverse biomes packed with strange mechanical predators and roaming threats.

Built for Everyone
WANDERBURG supports mouse and keyboard, controller, and even touchscreen input. It’s also optimized to run smoothly on lower-spec PCs and handheld devices, with a clean, readable art style designed to scale across screen sizes.

With serious wishlist numbers and strong early community engagement behind it, WANDERBURG is shaping up to be one of Steam Next Fest’s more intriguing roguelike experiments. The demo is available now for players ready to roll into battle behind the walls of their own ever-growing castle.
