There are dungeons in The Secret of Weepstone—but this isn’t your typical RPG.
Talesworth Game Studio, alongside publisher DreadXP, has unveiled The Secret of Weepstone, a hand-drawn, black-and-white dungeon crawler that channels the spirit of 70s and 80s tabletop RPGs. From dice-rolling combat to treasure-stuffed halls and ominous secrets, this is a dark fantasy throwback built for anyone who grew up on—or simply loves—the grit of classic Dungeons & Dragons campaigns.
Set in the ruined village of Weepstone, the game doesn’t cast you as mighty heroes but rather common folk forced into the unknown. The once-thriving settlement now lies in decay: crops dead, fields barren, and Lord Byron—its ruler—bedridden, haunted by visions of unholy rituals. With no heroes left to save them, ordinary villagers must brave the darkness, uncover sinister truths, and fight to survive in the crumbling keep.
The game’s hand-drawn black-and-white style gives every monster, trap, and dungeon corridor a striking, almost storybook-meets-nightmare feel. Players will lead a party of up to eight villagers, adventurers, heretics, and misfits through traps, puzzles, and relentless encounters. Death is inevitable, but when a character falls, you’ll gain “Mortal Favors,” unique bonuses that push the story of survival forward.
