Little Guy Games has just dropped the first playable demo for their haunting psychological Metroidvania, Endless Night: The Darkness Within, giving players an early chance to explore the surreal, unsettling depths of the human mind. The demo is free to download on Steam starting today, alongside a brand-new trailer.
A Journey Into the Subconscious
In Endless Night: The Darkness Within, you step into the fractured psyche of Jake, a man haunted by past trauma and driven by the need to heal. Guided by a mysterious Shaman, Jake must navigate four dreamlike realms—Darkness, War, Childhood, and Transcendence—each one revealing powerful truths, dangerous enemies, and pieces of a path toward self-discovery.
The demo offers a glimpse into the game’s tense combat, dream-inspired environments, and deeply personal narrative. You’ll face a challenging boss born from Jake’s own fears, upgrade your gear to survive the dreamscape’s dangers, and encounter strange, unforgettable characters like the enigmatic Burning Boy.

Inspirations and Vision
Drawing influence from Journey, Street Fighter, Bruce Lee’s martial arts philosophy, and the psychological theories of Carl Jung, Endless Night blends expressive combat, puzzling dreamscapes, and a heartfelt narrative about grief, anxiety, and the search for peace.
“We created Endless Night not just as a game, but as a meditation on grief and anxiety,” says Tom Frencel, CEO of Little Guy Games. “This demo is a first step into Jake’s subconscious—and hopefully into the hearts of players.”
The full game is planned for release in 2026, but you can start your journey today with the free Steam demo.
