Deck13 Spotlight — the publisher behind CrossCode and Chained Echoes — has announced it will be publishing Forge of the Fae, the upcoming JRPG from international developer Datadyne. The partnership was revealed today alongside the release of a free demo on Steam, with the game set to launch in 2027 for PC and consoles.
Inspired by 1800s Ireland, Forge of the Fae blends rich worldbuilding with a personal, choice-driven narrative. Players step into the role of Fiora, a young inventor caught in the growing conflict between humans and the fae. As an ancient power stirs, Fiora must navigate political tensions, unravel a deep mystery, and decide who she wants to become — with player decisions shaping the ultimate outcome.
Built for fans of old-school turn-based adventures, Forge of the Fae features strategic battles enhanced by two unique systems: the “ARC Crystal System,” which allows for customizable spells, and the “Adrenaline” mechanic, which adds powerful, high-impact abilities. Outside combat, players will encounter elaborate puzzles that reward exploration with rare items and hidden lore.
“Forge of the Fae is a perfect match for us,” said Michael Hoss, Head of Product at Deck13 Spotlight. “Even in its early stages, it’s incredibly well crafted and pulls all the right triggers.”
“We have found a reliable partner with Deck13 Spotlight,” added David Schooley from Datadyne. “They fully understand our vision and know the JRPG market so well. We’re super excited for the upcoming journey!”
Fans attending Gamescom 2025 can try Forge of the Fae at the Indie Arena Booth in Cologne, and the game will also be showcased at Tokyo Game Show later this year.
