Get ready to march to the beat of chaos—Ratatan, the rhythm roguelite from the minds behind Patapon, officially drops into Early Access on July 25, 2025! And if you can’t wait to tap-tap your way into the action, a free playable demo is live now on Steam.

Revealed during the Day of the Devs: Summer Game Fest Edition, Ratatan is a wild fusion of rhythm, roguelike elements, and side-scrolling mayhem, brought to life with vibrant 2D animation, catchy tunes, and more adorable chaos than your army can handle.

Tap to the Beat, Command the Chaos

From legendary Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani and composer Kemmei Adachi, Ratatan invites players to lead an army of quirky critters called Cobun across the musical world of Redo. Issue rhythmic commands, charge into dynamic battles, and get into the groove—because timing really is everything.

Oh, and yes… you can also enter FEVER MODE, where the music ramps up, your Cobun go dance-crazy, and your enemies don’t stand a chance.

    What’s in the Demo?

The Steam demo gives you a taste of the rhythm-fueled mayhem with two full worlds:

    • World 1: Pirates of the Parabbean

    • World 2: Yeehawler Mountain

You’ll also get to try out:

    • Four playable Ratatan characters

    • Online co-op multiplayer for up to 4 players

Ready to command your Cobun army? Check out the demo on Steam!

    Marching Through Summer Game Fest

Ratatan isn’t just dropping a trailer and calling it a day. You’ll see it everywhere this month:

    • Day of the Devs (June 7–9) – In-person at SGF Play Days in LA

    • Future Games Show (June 8) – Online showcase

    • PC Gaming Show (June 9) – Online spotlight

    What Is Ratatan, Really?

Imagine if Patapon went rogue-lite, added multiplayer chaos, and turned the charm factor up to 11. That’s Ratatan. You control one of the Ratatans—melodic adventurers with a dream to reach the mythical Everafter and meet a legendary goddess. Armed with musical weapons called Melodium, your rhythm is your weapon, your shield, and your only shot at keeping your Cobun alive.

As you command your troops in time with the beat, battles become dance-fueled brawls. With more than 100 characters on screen, rhythm and strategy are the only way to survive.

    Key Features

    • Rhythm-Driven Combat – Sync your commands with the soundtrack to guide your army.
    • Fever Mode – Nail your beats and trigger a musical frenzy that boosts your Cobun into overdrive.
    • Charming 2D Visuals – Adorable animations give life (and laughs) to your units and enemies.
    • Epic Soundtrack – Composed by Kemmei Adachi, featuring a guest track by David Wise (Donkey Kong Country).
    • Multiplayer Mayhem – Join forces with up to 4 players online to command the battlefield in co-op carnage.
    • Quirky Worlds – March through vibrant, bizarre lands like Rataport, Yeehawler Mountain, and beyond.

Ratatan launches into Early Access on Steam on July 25, with full support for single-player and online co-op from day one. Between its lovable art, banging soundtrack, and deep strategic layers, it’s shaping up to be a must-play for rhythm game fans and roguelite junkies alike.

Check out the demo on Steam!, gather your crew, and start marching. The beat waits for no one.
