In celebration of the 30 year anniversary of Street Fighter 2, one of the most iconic fighting games in video game history, Nintendo will be releasing a reimagined version titled Ultra Street Fighter 2 in late May for the Nintendo Switch.
One of the biggest additions to the game are payable versions of Dark Ryu and Violent Ken, which, for Street Fighter 2, means these new characters are the first new characters in almost 20 years. Another huge addition to the game are HD graphics that are predicted to give the game a beautiful updated look while holding true to the original game physics.
For those of you that prefer the old school graphics you can always “Switch” back to classic design and relive all the nostalgia of the 90’s. Several other additions to expect from SF2 are online matches, character color customization, buddy battles, and “Way of the Hado Mode” which utilize the joy-con motion controls to play in a first person view.
Ultra Street Fighter 2 will be capable of fully using “Switch” function and will be able to be played in tv, tabletop, or handheld mode. The game will even use the touchscreen use for super move executions. As if that wasn’t enough, SF2 will add further depth to the game by including a gallery that will contain 1400 illustrations created around the history of Street Fighter.
With a slated release date of May 26, Ultra Street Fighter 2 will be an amazing addition to the already growing library of Nintendo Switch games.
I, for one, will be making sure I pick this title up on day one. I can’t wait to relive classic game and experience new matches full of Hadokens and Tiger Uppercuts all while climbing to reach Street Fighter supremacy.
