Originally announced a couple of years ago, Waltz and Jam follows the emotional and magical journey of Waltz, a lost young ghost searching for answers in the afterlife. Accompanied by his loyal spirit puppy Jam, players will venture through beautifully crafted realms filled with danger, puzzles, secrets, and larger-than-life encounters.

The game’s story centers around seven major trials spread across seven unique locations, each representing an important step in determining Waltz’s fate. Along the way, players will uncover hidden mysteries, battle powerful enemies, and discover more about the strange world that exists beyond the veil.

Jam is more than just a companion throughout the adventure. As the journey progresses, the spirit puppy gains new abilities that help players solve puzzles, navigate the environment, and overcome increasingly difficult challenges. Players will also discover a variety of collectible toys and trinkets that can be used for combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving.

Each realm in Waltz and Jam is designed with its own personality and atmosphere, offering a mix of vibrant visuals, hidden secrets, and memorable encounters. Every major trial concludes with a massive boss battle, while additional secret bosses are scattered throughout the world for players willing to explore every corner of the Underworld.

About the Developer

Peter Nichols is an experimental solo developer based in Los Angeles. Before creating Crude Oil, they spent time living off-grid in the Mojave Desert — a fitting backdrop for conjuring a game about survival, absurdity, and petroleum paranoia. Nichols is also a member of the New Museum’s art & tech incubator, NEW INC.
