Developed by Dream Dock and published by Digital Vortex Entertainment, DREADMOOR blends survival mechanics with exploration and fishing in a post-apocalyptic bayou. While the game has previously appeared at in-person events, this marks the first time players around the world can experience it from their own PCs.

The playtest introduces several features that haven’t been shown publicly before. Players will encounter a dynamic day-and-night cycle, with nighttime bringing the threat of terrifying tentacle attacks lurking beneath the water. Exploration plays a major role as well, with mechanics such as tuning radios to the right frequency, using lockpicks to access restricted areas, refueling generators, solving water-flow puzzles, and unlocking new recipes through the game’s Mastery system.

Set in a bayou devastated by a mysterious plague, players pilot a battered fishing boat through the dangerous Submerged Lands in search of valuable catches. But these waters are far from peaceful. Mutated predators roam the depths, turning every fishing expedition into a tense risk-and-reward encounter where even the bait might become the hunter.

After filling the boat with strange and mutated fish, players can return to a bait shop perched on the back of a massive crab to sell their haul. The resources earned can then be used to upgrade the boat’s hull, improve fishing equipment, and craft specialized lures designed to capture even rarer and more dangerous creatures.

According to Dream Dock CEO Rostislav Fedorov, the development team has relied heavily on community feedback to shape the experience so far. The current playtest offers only a small taste of what the game will eventually include, but it gives players an early opportunity to explore the haunting world of DREADMOOR.

DREADMOOR is currently planned to launch on PC via Steam in Q4 2026.

Picking up shortly after the previous installment, the story follows Styx after he destroys the Amber factory belonging to High Priestess Lyssril. Leaving the Dark Elf city of Korrangar behind, he takes to the skies aboard a zeppelin with a ragtag crew, setting his sights on Quartz—a powerful and dangerously unstable resource that has sparked rising tensions among humans, elves, and orcs.

With the ruthless human Inquisition relentlessly hunting him down, Styx must secure the Quartz before it falls into the wrong hands, regardless of the consequences.

The journey spans the sprawling continent of Iserian, guiding players through massive environments steeped in medieval fantasy. Among the destinations is Akenash, the floating remains of the World Tree now crawling with goblins and amber-corrupted elves. Players will also infiltrate The Wall, a towering fortress of the Human Empire defended by elite soldiers, and venture into the Turquoise Dawn, a war-torn jungle filled with deadly wildlife and hostile terrain.

Styx won’t be alone on this mission. A group of outcasts—including Helledryn, Djarak, and Wren—join the cause, and completing their quests unlocks upgrades that enhance Styx’s stealth abilities, tools, and infiltration tactics. These improvements aim to expand player freedom and encourage creative approaches to every encounter.

Narratively, the game helps lay the foundation for the Great War while charting the rise of the Black Hand, a mercenary faction that later plays a central role in Of Orcs and Men, the first title set in this universe.

Developed by French studio Cyanide, Styx: Blades of Greed marks the third entry in a series that has drawn more than two million players worldwide. This latest chapter doubles down on open-ended level design, vertical exploration, and player-driven problem-solving. New traversal tools such as a grappling hook and glider complement expanded powers, giving players more ways than ever to navigate the shadows.
