Clowntown is bringing a colorful mix of party-game chaos and unpredictable twists to PC, with its debut demo now available ahead of October’s Steam Next Fest. Developed by Batterystaple Games, the team behind 30XX, the game supports two to eight players as they take on more than 14 multi-stage minigames designed to keep everyone guessing.
The games often begin with simple, shared objectives, but Clowntown has no intention of letting players get too comfortable. Each minigame can introduce unexpected twists that change the rules, ramp up the difficulty, or turn a straightforward challenge into something much more ridiculous.

Take Spelling Bee, for example. What starts as a simple word game eventually introduces Spelling Wasp, where players are suddenly challenged to spell a word like “polytetrafluoroethylene” while a countdown timer adds pressure. Bees Spelling takes the concept even further, sending players flying from cannons as they attempt to collect letters in the correct order from literal flying bees.

Other minigames put players through equally unpredictable challenges. Face Paint asks teams to recreate increasingly complicated artwork, while Friendship Test questions how well players really know one another. Patch Notes When?combines obnoxiously loud honks with modifiers capable of ruining the game, and Thou Shalt Not challenges players to survive a platforming gauntlet while following a series of increasingly tyrannical rules.

For those looking for a little friendly competition, This is Sparta gives players the opportunity to kick each other into deep wells.

Outside of the minigames, Clowntown also offers plenty of ways to customize your clown. Players can choose from a variety of character styles and more than 30 different honk sounds, giving everyone the chance to create their own uniquely irritating clown persona.

Clowntown is coming to PC via Steam, with English, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, German, Korean, French, Spanish, and Portuguese supported at launch.
